Thank you for
your interest in the services offered here. My
name is Meredith Bowerman, I am the Urban Yogi.
I am an avid fitness enthusiast, a yogi and a
healer. I have been educating
myself over the last ten years in various forms
of Fitness (from Muay Thai Kickboxing, aerobics,
running, spinning, to multi-sport events), Yoga
(Hatha, Ashtanga, Flow) and Healing (Spiritual
Response Therapy, Reiki).
I was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I
completed a BA in languages at the University of
Alberta and then moved to San Jose Costa Rica.
It was there that I began training in Muay Thai
Kickboxing with Walter Rodriguez the WKA Las
Vegas Light Heavy Weight Champion 1994. I
continued my training in 2001 here in Houston with Kru Pong - a well known Muay Thai
Kickboxing trainer in the Houston area. I
participated in kickboxing events with the Thai
Performing Arts group in places such as the Thai
Temple, Miller Theatre just to name a few. Muay
Thai has now been a passion of mine for 8 years!
Today my activities focus around
weight/resistance training, running, cycling,
swimming and kickboxing.
Yoga is another passion of mine which I find
compliments all of the activities I participate
in.
I have been teaching Hatha Yoga for 5 years now
and taken various yoga workshops and trainings
(Hatha, Ashtanga, Baptiste power vinyasa, flow
yoga, workshops with John Friend, Manju Jois,
Baron Baptiste and Rod Stryker), all of them
have led me to my own style of teaching. I
intuitively tune into the energy of the people I
am working with and integrate my healing work
into my classes.
The healing work I do is Spiritual Response
Therapy and Reiki. I am a Reiki Master. Both
modalities have profoundly changed my life and
are two very powerful forms of healing that
effect the body and mind on all levels. As well
as consulting, I teach Reiki as well as
the basic and advanced levels of Spiritual
Response Therapy.
Wherever you find yourself in life, Fitness,
Yoga, and Healing will make a difference! I
enjoy all of them and find myself blossoming
into my true self more and more each day.
Namaste,
Meredith
